BRISTOL MOD SCOOTER CLUB

The ever-popular, growing Scooter Club in the South West.

Welcome to

Welcome to the first Newsletter of 2008 – and the last big mailing the Club will make for the foreseeable future. In future, Club Members need to refer to the Newsletter online at the BMSC Website and to check the Forum for meeting / rideout updates through the course of the Season. We will only send hard-copy of the Newsletter to 2008 Members who have informed us that they do not have Internet access – speak now or forever …….etc etc

Since the last Newsletter, the AGM has come and gone. For those who didn’t get to attend, I’ve copied the AGM Minutes from the BMSC Forum, here they are:

Voting of new BMSC Club Committee.
In the absence of any other suggestions / volunteers - the Proposal I made in the last 2007 Newsletter was accepted unanimously. So your Club Committee for 2008 is:

Gerry Churchill, Club Chairman
Jim Burnham, Club Secretary
Norman Webb, Club Treasurer
Committee Members: Des Coles; Steve Holloway

(plus we welcome any Club Member to join and contribute to the Committee).

Club Committee Meetings
It was agreed there would be a formal Club Committee Meeting once a Quarter. The first Committee Meeting was held on Sunday March 9th at The Arnolfini.

Club Funds and Annual Membership
The Club entered 2008 in the Black (hooray) to the tune of £38.19. We already have 11 paying Members for 2008 - including 2 new Members whom we welcome to the Club - Colin Birch and John Hendy.
It was agreed that the Club Annual Membership Fee of £10 would be retained. Please can Members forward their Fee to me asap. (Ta!)

Club Meetings
The traditional "Second Sunday of the Month" will be retained and since we were on "Winter Rules" this means those who wish to meet it is 7:30pm at The Arnolfini (Weather Permitting) until the Spring.
The first "Summer Rules" meeting is April 13th.

We have already been invited to (and accepted) several events. These are:
26th April Bristol Italian Auto Moto Show - Corn Street.
3rd/4th May Borders Vintage Show, Monmouth.

Please refer to BMSC Events Calendar for list of 2008 meetings and rideouts.

BMSC Website and Forum
There have been several distressed Club Members reporting that they have received "BANNED" notices.
First thing - THIS IS A TECHNICAL PROBLEM. Nobody is being banned without due cause.
We have since managed to find the cause of this problem and get Members back online. Please let Jim know if you’re having difficulty.

Rideouts planning
The Committee met of 9th March to discuss the 2008 Club plans and the Events Calendar provides details of meetings / rideouts agreed so far for the 2008 Season.

LOCARNO Night
This idea has now become a reality, on April 5th 7:30pm til midnight – see Events Calendar for details.

BMSC Club Badge

It was proposed that we should look into the cost of providing a Club Badge for Club Members. There are a couple of options on this - an enamel badge (like the one the Torquay SC guys gave to us after our last rideout) or a cloth badge to sew onto our parkas. Action is to look into the cost of this - me on the former option; Gerry on the latter option. More to follow on this.

As you can see from the Events Calendar, there’s lots to look forward to in the coming Season. We also still have some spare monthly spots which are not assigned to Events yet – so if you have an idea, please let us know or come along to the next Committee Meeting. This will be held in June – watch out for the exact date of the BMSC Website Forum.

Thanks to all Members who have already paid their 2008 Annual Membership Fee. Please send your Fee through to me in the post :

We will be issuing the Club Patch (cloth patch for your parka / jacket) to “Paid Up” 2008 Club Members once they are ready.

Hopefully, the 2008 Scootering season will be characterised by sunny weather unlike much of 2007 and we very much look forward to seeing our Club Members and friends, old and new, at our Club Meetings and rideouts. So, get your dusters out and lets clean up our scoots and get out there !
