I was going to call this 'Autumn Almanac', with a bit of Kinks playing in the background, but I guess it's a little late for that as we are now well into wintertime! It's just a quick catch up with what's happening with the club as we approach the end of another year.
Meet ups/ rideouts
We have the 'Santa On A Bike' event coming up on Saturday December 3rd. It's a biker charity ride, and the title pretty much describes what's happening. They dress up as Father Christmas and ride to a local children's hospice, taking presents- toys, sweets etc and cash.
They actually stop off at The Tea Hut on the Downs on their way at around mid day, so you can meet up with them there. The deal is that you bring a present, or a cash donation, which is very acceptable!
You can also put yer Santa outfit on if you like, and join in with the remaining part of the ride! I'll be posting up a reminder during the week leading up to this event, and more details can be seen on this link-
www.santasonabike.org.uk
Talking of the Tea Hut, we are still having these gatherings througout the winter, meeting there between two and three o'clock on Saturday afternoons for a cuppa and a chinwag.
Also we have extended this idea to Sundays as well, but meeting at the Arnolfini instead, again between two and three o' clock. So if you are out on the scoot on the weekends, with no particular place to go, why not stop by and see who else has got the same idea!
Club Christmas Meal
You've probably already seen the posting for our xmas meal on this forum. It's taking place on Saturday night December 3rd at the Llandoger Trow Inn. All BMSC members, family and friends are welcome!
We need to submit our meal orders by Saturday 19th November, so if you haven't submitted your order yet and you would like to join us for an enjoyable night out, please let me know as soon as possible. I'll be posting up a "Last Orders" reminder just to jog your memory!
And looking a bit further ahead, there is something happening on New Years Eve which involves a few 'mod style' scooters. I can't give out too many details at the mo, but if you're free on that night and fancy a bit of a ride, then please let me know!
BMSC 2012
We will be holding our AGM towards the end of January, the date to be arranged, so have a think about what we did this year, and if you've got any ideas for us for next year, come along to the meeting and let us know.
Amongst other items, we'll be appointing the committee, which brings this nicely round to my position within the club. I've been secretary for coming up to four years now- some folk get less than that for murder, or should that be for inciting a riot on Facebook! Either way, it's quite a long time, so maybe if there is somebody within the club that has an uncontrollable urge to take over the position, then this could be your chance! Have a think about it and let me know. Obviously this appointment would be subject to approval by the existing committee.
And finally, a few of us went along to Mike Pick's milestone birthday party (He can't be that old, surely!) where we were treated to a brilliant night, including Mike making an amazing entrance, riding into the hall on his SX, then doing a great set playing drums with his band 'Rockit'.
We presented Mike with a rather tasty framed picture, on behalf of the club, which he was very pleased to receive!
So that's about it for now, so see you soon.
All the best, Jim
